Within the framework of the German Weeks in Catalonia, Idensitat, in collaboration with the Goethe Institut in Barcelona, presents different projects in progress that are part of iD Barrio BDN Import/Export.
iD Barrio BDN Import/Export consists of combining research and intervention in the public space, linking artistic practices and the ethnography of globalization. The central theme of the project is the neighborhood understood as a workspace and a place for trade. The interaction between the local and global surfaces in the economic relationships and the restructuring of a territory in which the previously active local production has been replaced by decentralized production and local distribution. This place is the area of South Badalona, located on the border between the town of Badalona and Sant Adrià de Besós. The transformation that has occurred in this territory, driven by the Chinese community, also entails a new presence and ethnographic occupation of the space, as a result to transnational migration processes.
iD Barrio BDN Import/Export proposes carrying out various interdisciplinary and interrelated projects:
- Artistic intervention in the public space, by the KUNSTrePUBLIK collective formed by Matthias Einhoff, Philip Horst, Markus Lohmann, Harry Sachs and Daniel Seiple.
- Anthropological and social research through urban ethnography, directed by Francesc Magrinyà and Gaspar Maza, with the participation of Elisabeth Caro, Xavi Feliu, Lluis Juli and Maria Lobelle, students of the Universitat Rovira i Virgili de Tarragona.
- Video documentary by Guillermo Cruz.
These projects still in progress will be presented on Saturday June 4 and Sunday June 5, using the material generated during the process on an iD Barrio exhibition display called the Touring Device, within the framework of the Germany in Barcelona program.
iD Barrio BDN Import/Export is an IDENSITAT project in collaboration with the Goethe Institut in Barcelona. With the support of Institut de Cultura de l'Ajuntament de Barcelona, Generalitat de Catalunya Consell Nacional de la Cultura i les Arts and Hangar.
